Then, in October and in just a matter of days, one of the most surprising transfers of the year burst into life and quickly reached an exciting conclusion. The American team were close to their capacity after signing a glut of neo-pros, the season was beginning to peter out, and Rui Costa himself was still clinging to the notion of a contract extension at Intermarché-Circus-Wanty.
